A True Movie Event of The Summer

With the summer winding down and the children preparing to go back to school it may feel like that joyous summer movie time is over. Well the summer might have just saved it's best film for last. Rise of The Planet of The Apes is receiving great reviews from nearly all critics (and you know how hard that is).

Rise of The Planet of The Apes is a loosely based prequel that explains the origins of The Planet of The Apes series. Despite all of James Franco zany real life antics he manages to pull of the very believable role of scientist Will Rodman. Rodman believes very much in a drug that seems to be able to repair the brain and reverse the signs of Alzheimer. After taking home an incredibly smart chimp named Cesar Will Rodman develops a close bond with an extremely intelligent animal like the world has never seen.

Through a series of hardships that Cesar experiences, he realizes he has to use his intelligence to help his species and stop the abuse that they face. From this moment on the human race is going to have a hard time reinforcing the world they once new.

This late summer movie and its brilliant cinematic experience has come as a surprise to many movie goers. The movie is very well written with a brilliant and heartfelt performance by John Lithgow. Rise of The Planet of The Apes does not over use action movie cliche's. A large part of the movie focuses on communication between the intelligent apes and the writing is still witty, believable and strong.

The special effects are incredible and Cesar (the films star) is played by the actor Andy Serkis. If the name Andy Serkis doesn't ring a bell it's o.k. because he is one of Hollywood's best kept secrets. Andy Serkis breathes life into some of Hollywood's most beloved characters such as King Kong and Gollum from the Lord of The Rings Series. His portrayal of the highly intelligent chimp Cesar is passionate and will evoke emotion from all viewers (sometimes happiness, sadness and humour) from you through out the film.

Unlike the horrific big budget mess Transformers 3, The Rise of The Planet of The Apes was clearly well thought out and planned by it's creators. The movie does not sacrifice its quality content for it's action but worked really hard to deliver both.

The only mistake this movie might have made was not releasing it in 3-D. I am sure in digital 3-D it would have looked absolutely brilliant. This movie is a must see as it is practically flawless and will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The movie is also left wide open for a part 2 and you will want one as well!

I liked the film, too. One of the best this summer. My only complaint is, when Caesar isn't on screen, the film tends to drag because the human characters aren't too interesting. But the apes are all great and Serkis does an amazing job as Caesar.

Fun movie. Nice review.
